What is the Point of your Life?

By Follow Your Own Rhythm

This blog post is inspired by a video I watched by "The Journey of Purpose" on why people get stuck in the rat race.  You can watch it below! It’s only 4 minutes long and very inspiring.

This video just reminds me of the reality that so many people live unhappy and unfulfilling lives.

And this is why I do what I do; to help people find more meaning in their lives.

If this is you, and if your life is busy, rushed, and unfulfilling, then I want you to think about, what is the point of your life? What are you working so hard for? What is waiting for you at the end that justifies your long, hard hours at work? Is it worth it? Are you missing out on life because you are working so hard? Waiting for that "one day" to come so you can start enjoying life?

Why do you do what you do?

Take out a pen and a paper and answer the following questions.

You can download the pdf worksheet too that has all of these questions and exercises in a printable, worksheet format.

1.     What is the point of your long hours at work, sleepless nights, drained energy, dealing with an annoying boss, and engaging in meaningless work? Why do you do it? What keeps you going? Be as honest as you can be.

2.     Do you feel good about those answers? Do they justify your sacrifice? And is this really the ONLY option that you have? Is this the only way to satisfy your “why?”

3.     What is stopping you from making a change?

4.     What parts about your current life do you dislike? What do you wish you could do differently with your life? And what does your ideal life look like?

5.     What can you do to make that happen? What small changes can you start making? What seed can you plant now so that it can start growing and bloom in the future?

The reality is that if you are waiting for some future moment to save you, like winning the lotto, getting an inheritance, being rescued by someone else, experiencing a miracle, or hoping your future self will figure something out, then things may never change for you.

Do you know the secret to having a good, happy and fulfilling life?

It’s your desire, your mindset, and your actions.  YOU have to do what it takes to get yourself to where you want to be.  You can’t depend on anything or anyone else to do that for you.

Where do you want to be in 5, 10, 15, 20 years? How do you want your life to be? What do you want to be doing? How do you want to feel? Who do you want to be?

Answer these questions and start doing something that will get you on that path.  And you don't need a million dollar idea, a large sum of money, or a great invention in order to leave the rat race and create a fulfilling life.  You just need the will, and then an action plan.

Let’s say that your goal is to leave your unfulfilling job and create your own freedom business.

How can you plant the seed? What are some initial things you can start doing right now?

Maybe do some soul searching to figure out your passions and what you’re good at, start writing up a business plan, reach out to some people who may be able to help, research ideas online, get certified, start saving money, etc.

Once you put this energy out there that you are on a mission to get free from the rat race and start your own business, new ideas come to you, doors start to open, opportunities come your way, and things start to line up.  You just have to have faith, stay positive, trust the process, and believe that it will work! This is why your MINDSET is key in this whole thing.  If you don’t believe that you can do it, you won't be able to do it! You gotta believe in yourself and you gotta believe that you deserve good things!

5 Powerful Tips for Finding Your Passion

In the end, we, as a society, have to start prioritizing our peace, happiness and fulfillment over success, work, and money.  What is the point in being successful, having money, and having a high status job if we aren’t happy and fulfilled? What is the point of life then? Why kill ourselves?

Instead, get creative and figure out a way to create a life that is fulfilling.  If you really want it, you will figure it out. The answers are within you.

And yes, you might have to stay at your corporate job for another 3 years until the seed you planted comes to fruition, but at least you have a game plan.  At least you are being proactive.  At least you have a goal to break free from the system that drains your soul and treats you like a robot.  You weren't born to just follow the rules, complain about your life, be constantly stressed and drained, and live for the future.  You were born to live your life NOW.
